I didn’t start out as the President of Advertising Excellence, Inc. in 1995. What happened was I began making websites in 1995. Since that time we have been in the web design business, building all types of websites. For example, we make e-commerce websites,  Content Management System websites and websites for all types of businesses.  Here you can see the original website design company called RBIweb.com. The “World Wide Web” as it was called back caused me to quit my job. I knew that everyone would want to have a website for their business..

Web Design Since 1995

There have been many changes since that time and we stay up to date on all of them. As a result our clients enjoy ranking well in the search engine results. There’s no point in having a beautiful website if nobody can find you. Consequently, we fix a lot of websites that were built by other web design companies.  For instance, when we look at a website that doesn’t rank well we often find that the most basic elements of SEO or Search Engine Optimization were left out.

Search Engine Optimization

The search engines look for hidden metafiles which contain the title of each page and the description of each page. When the metafile is missing or left empty then the search engine grabs the first thing it finds on the page. Unfortunately, the first thing found on the page will be programming code which won’t help the search engine to figure out what the website is about. We believe other companies leave the metafiles empty because they are lazy or want to sell basic SEO for an additional fee.  Our company will always include the basic SEO in every website we make.

If your business is in a very competitive field maybe the basics of SEO won’t be enough. We are able to create all types of website advertising with the goal of getting the website to rank better organically.

Social Media Marketing

For serious Internet marketing campaigns, we can go well beyond the pay-per-click programs. Pay-per-click is great for small budget marketing efforts of a few hundred dollars per month. If your Internet advertising budget is $1,000.00 per month or more we have other options. For instance, we can offer more aggressive viral marketing options and social media marketing. We have found that we can get a website to rank better in the search results when we use social media linked to the website. The search engines assume that a website must be very good if people are interacting with it on social sites. Consequently, after the search engines detect these social signals, they give the website better ranking.

What it Takes to be a Web Designer

The biggest problem we see is incompetency in web design companies. The reason is that there is no minimum standard of quality required. As a result, you can call yourself a “web designer” without ever learning anything about web design. Take for example lawyers, real estate agents, and even hair stylists, they all were required to take classes. What’s more, they had to pass competency exams. Additionally, they are regulated by a government agency that licenses them.

What this means to you is that if you give an attorney money then you have a right to expect that attorney to do  some work.   If the attorney fails to perform or won’t reply to your emails or return you calls you have some recourse. You would report the attorney to the Florida Bar Association and they can revoke the attorneys license. Similarly, if a real estate agent takes your money and runs off to China never to return you would have recourse. For example, you would report this to the Department of Professional Regulation and they have a recovery fund. Consequently, that fund would pay you in this situation.

What makes all of the web design companies different is that there is no requirement to take any classes in web design at all. Additionally, there is no competency exam to take. What’s more, there is no license required, there is no governing agency over web designers. What this means is that if  you give a web designer a $2,000.00 deposit, the designer doesn’t have to do anything. For example, the web designer can keep the money and then never returns your calls or reply to your emails. Keep in mind, there is nobody you can report them to.

You might go see a lawyer and pay the lawyer a $5,000.00 retainer fee to go after the web designer. Most lawyers would advise you to do nothing at all and just accept the loss as a lesson learned. It simply won’t be worth it to pursue the web designer in court. This is why the reputation of the web design company is so important.
