Restaurant Postcard Design
This restaurant postcard design was created while the restaurant was under construction. Additionally, the new restaurant was going to be an upscale steak and seafood restaurant. Consequently, we purchased a surf and turf stock photo. Additionally, we also used a stock photo of a happy couple with wine glasses.
Direct Mail Marketing
For this direct mail marketing campaign, we created a mailing list of homeowners. Additionally, we selected homeowners that lived in the most expensive parts of town. Consequently, we knew that everyone receiving the postcard could afford to come to this restaurant. However, what made the postcards unique was a yellow sticky note affixed to the front of the postcard. Additionally, a handwriting font was used along with blue ink. Consequently, it looked like someone wrote a note and stuck it on the front of the postcard. Plus, we were also able to personalize the sticky note with the recipients first name.
Does Direct Mail Work?
When we do a direct mail program we like to be realistic and advise our clients that a 0.25% rate of return is normal. However, if we have an amazing looking postcard combined with a very generous offer, then we might do better. In that case, then maybe we could see a 1.0% return. In this case, we mailed out 20,000 postcards and got 400 people to walk into the restaurant with our postcards in hand. Consequently, the return was 2% and we wish we could take all of the credit but we can’t. For instance, the restaurant owner was not new to the business. As a result, he understood that he needed to fill the restaurant so that it looked like a new and exciting. Once you get people in the door, then good food and service will keep them coming back!
