People have asked me how and why I started a full service advertising agency. The company developed over time starting with t-shirt embroidery and t-shirt screen printing. My company was producing all the official artwork for the city of Fort Lauderdale Blues festivals and Cajun festivals for five years. The Baltimore Orioles would always have spring training at the Fort Lauderdale stadium. One day I was called and asked to embroider small number 7's on the sleeves of all the shirts for the team. I was told that Cal Ripken, Sr. had cancer and was not expected to live more than a few days. The problem was that they didn't want the number 7 on the shirts while he was alive as this would start rumors that he had already died. I agreed that no matter what time they called me I'd pick up all the shirts had have them back overnight with the 7's on the sleeve first thing in the morning. Shortly after his death The Baltimore Orioles played baseball in Cuba and on ESPN you could see the number 7's on the sleeves. We also started offering promotional products to companies all around the country.

It was the city of Fort Lauderdale that had referred me to the Orioles and they (the city) continued to give me more projects. My company became the brochure designer for the city festivals and we made the newspaper ads for their event promotion. By this time I had an artist designing website graphics and I was the programmer. To me making websites for clients seemed to be the advertising bargain of the century. Once the client had a website designed especially an ecommerce website it was like being in every phone book on earth. I saw my clients earning a lot of money from their websites because I understood what the search engines were looking for and I made sure they found what they needed in order to rank my clients websites well. Before search engine optimization became a big thing for people to talk about I was including search engine optimization or SEO services in every website I built. My thinking was that a website is useless if people can't find your business when they do a search for the type of products and services your company offers. Prior to all of this I spent 11 years working in the real estate business. I learned one very important thing; clients don't care how hard you work or how nice the newspaper ad looked, it is all for nothing if the house doesn't sell. So I bring this attitude with me in the advertising agency; I'm not trying to make beautiful brochures or websites that will win an award for my company. My goal is always to help my clients earn more money by bringing them more business. This approach continues to result in client referrals all the time.

Here is something new that we are working on right now. We have a client that currently sells flavored coffee in about 36 countries around the world. Now they are coming to the United States and they have selected our advertising agency to help them market their coffee. We are building an e-commerce website for them that will be fun and lively. It needs to appeal to a younger group of people, specifically 20-50 year olds. Our research shows us that this group is most likely to drink flavored coffee beverages. When people are over the age of 50 they are drinking decafinated (what's the point?) coffee or they simply stick with whatever brand they have had all their lives.
